To the park

After hardly getting any sleep the kids and I went out to the veterans memorial park. The kids loved it and I got to take a little nap on the lawn.

After the kids ran all around the castle for a while they wanted to go see the blue playground, the one Parker and I went to back in February.

The kids dared to cross the volcano bridge, they climbed on the spider's web, swung across the shark river and over the snake pit and they even dared to climb through the venomous koala jungle. Emily & Parker eventually got hungry so we had a little picnic. While they ate their lunch I took a nap until Thomas and Josh arrived.

We all went back to the castle park for a while and then we took another break on the blanket.
Josh pointed to Parker and wanted a bite of his cookie...
"Sure. I've gotta finish it first." Parker replied.

Before heading home we made one more stop at the blue park where Josh wanted to ride a puppy.

Thomas wouldn't let Josh ride the puppy.

Thomas went to McDonald's and we got Slurpees

Can't Sleep

Parker and I are up watching Ice Age 2. We can't sleep.
It's nice to spend some time with Parker and listen to how he can't wait for winter and how he remembers the snowman with a mustache. Parker told me the snowman with the mustache is his favorite snowman.

He also likes Ice Age and I guess he's seen the sequel before, probably at Grandma's house, because he knows what's coming.
He loves the scene where the mammoth launches the possum into the air.

Now it's 5:15am and we're watching HOW IT'S MADE. We're learning how they make yule logs. At 8am we're going to learn how they make
Carbon Fibre Masts, Fortune Cookies, IMAX Projectors and Roller Chains.

While waiting for How It's Made I photographed the sunrise at 6:50am. It was beautiful.

Then after a little while we watched how they make an IMAX projector.
The kids love watching How It's Made.

Gradients are cool

When working in the coloring industry it's important to know what your tools can do.
Every tool is useful. Otherwise why would they have made it. Don't ever let someone tell you that a tool isn't useful simply because they've never used it. I once had someone tell me that the pen tool was useless - that person was an idiot. His parents were probably idiots too...

There are so many tools to play with but today we'll be focusing on the Gradient tool.

The gradient tool takes two or more images and blends them together. It can create very cool effects. I used gradients to create this Traitor web banner.
Kristy likes the gradient tool and was trying to use it on an ad we were working on.

She was having a little trouble...

It obviously wasn't as easy as it looked.

Now you'll see how easy it really is. After learning this tool you'll be as excited as you were when you first found out how many different fonts there are. Remember?

Let's use these two photos.

Using the move tool, located at the top of the tool bar, drag the pizza sign photo onto the pizza photo. Position the top photo how ever you like. With the top layer selected click on the Add layer mask icon at the bottom of the layer palette to add a layer mask to the selected layer.

Now with the top layer still selected take the gradient tool and click on the pizza sign image at a point where you want the gradient to begin and hold the mouse down while you move to another point to mark where the gradient will end. Make sure that your foreground and background colors are set to the
black & white default.

Now you have blended two images together and it should look something like this.

Oh, and here's the finished ad.

Taco Bell

This dictionary still has good words in it.

Kristy thinks I need a new dictionary but I told her my dictionary still has good words in it.
Then she said she was starving so we went to Taco Bell.
When we arrived Sean snapped me as I snapped the glorious Taco Bell entrance.

While we were at Taco Bell I got a great shot of Kristy by chance and it fit perfect into this poster.
She too is now part of my movie poster collection. Bhwuahahahaha

Work & Play

The Meg20 food court signs came in today. They look great.

For lunch Kristy and I went to McDonald's. She wanted to go to Wendy's... but they don't have Clone Wars toys.

We went to McDonald's.

I bought R2-D2, Princess Leia and got Chewy for Cal because he couldn't be there. He went to a screening.
It was funny, when the manager got all excited that I wanted to see all the available characters and Kristy didn't understand why men in their 30s would go crazy over Happy Meal Star Wars toys. I guess it's just that some guys refuse to grow up. :)

On the way home I bought some Dr. Pepper for Becky, a few trading cards and a chicken nugget Happy Meal for Parker. He loves chicken nuggets and he did great at his Kindergarten assessment. He got Boba Fett and
I gave Princess Leia to Emily.

Emily solved the horseshoe puzzle. She's good at puzzles...

Mr. Rubik's Cube will be next.
