Only 800 Flowers

Once Becky and Emily woke up and we all got ready, we drove over for the late Pioneer Day parade and firework show. Linkin was excited for the day's events.
When we arrived Parker wanted to immediately start skateboarding.
Emily and Natalie joined him too.

Parker wanted to see me grind the sidewalk curb, but I'm no Tony Hawk on a skateboard. Parker hopes to someday be as good as Tony Hawk.
Kristie had her hair straightened.

Kim taste tested her potato salad.

The future Tony Hawk.
The parade.
Parker took a moment to rest.
Emily is learning to skate like Dad.
Linkin and Mommy.

After a while dinner was served with green Kool-Aid.

Please remove that string.
After hamburgers, hotdogs and salads the kids started off the firework show with smoke bombs.
Owen had the right idea, run away, run far away.
Natalie should've followed Owen. One of the smoke bombs attacked her.

We quickly gave her a bowl of ice-cream to numb the pain.
The smoke bombs aren't friendly like the picture makes them out to be. They're very dangerous.
Lindsay commented on how this year there's only going to be 800 flowers. Most kids would probably think, "Holy Crap! 800 Flowers?! What do I have to pay to see this?!" But it seems that after last year anything under 1000 doesn't create much excitement here.
For those bored with the wimpy display of a measly 800 flowers there was indoor entertainment. Dancing...
and Owen was giving me video game instruction. He wanted to play the Pooh game. TV on... Input 2... then he pointed to where the controller wires go. It was so cute how he knew exactly how to get the game working. Then he had me play a few levels of catch the butterflies and pull the vegetables out of the garden before the mole eats them.
Outside the firework show was well underway.

Then the grand finale.
There was a minor setback in the fuse lighting so Andy sprayed more lighter fluid to get the show going.
If it looks kind of wimpy that's because we were 200 short this year.
It's ok Andy. Owen thought it was awesome. He watched the video several times.
