Steal First and Ask for Permission Later

'Twas the night before Wednesday, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;

Pictures are hung above the fireplace with care,
But not just in the living-room, they're everywhere;

The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
With visions of SpongeBob dancing in their heads;

And mamma on the couch and me with my drink,
Had just settled down to watch The Weakest Link,

When out in the back there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from the couch to see what was the matter.

Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.

The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the lustre of mid-day to objects below,

When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But an electric cable in my outlet and vanishing into the rear,

What in the #%!$ am I seeing outside my backdoor,
I knew in a moment it must be neighbor.

More rapid than eagles I grabbed my jacket and ran to the back,
And I witnessed it first hand, a cable stealing power from my jack,

"Holy, Crap! And what the #%!$!"
I'm not taking this very well,

I grab the plug and yank it out of the wall!
No, this isn't happening! Not now, not at all!"

So back inside the house I go,
What the crap are they thinking, I would like to know,

And then, in a twinkling, I heard the door bell ding-dong,
It was our neighbor saying, "I didn't mean to. Was that wrong?"

As I thought to myself - Is this person for real?
Oh yes, she is. From your neighbors it's ok to steal.

She claimed her power was out and she couldn't see in the dark of night,
And thought that stealing our electricity would give her some light,

We offered her a flashlight to go,
But she didn't need it and left saying, "No".

Strange this may seem, but it's happened before,
Just a few weeks ago they came knocking at our door,

They wanted two eggs right around midnight,
"Who bakes at this hour? That just doesn't seem right."

They even stole our sprinkler right off our lawn,
and didn't give it back till we told them that's wrong,

But there is something I have learned from this whole mess,
It's better to steal first and ask for permission later, I guess.

Heavy Snow

It's Saturday and we've been home all day just cleaning and taking it easy. Jamie & Axel were going to come over at 4pm to play WARLORDS... now it's 6:30pm and they're still not here. I'm not surprised.
In the late afternoon it started snowing and it's coming down heavy.

That might be the reason Jamie & Axel aren't here yet. Driving Jamie's Mustang in the snow is like trying to drive on solid ice. She has zero traction in the snow. She never drives in the snow. Hagen too - His car goes into hibernation for the winter season. I think he still takes time to clean the rims at least once a day though.
6:36 and it looks like it has stopped snowing. As soon as they get the road to my house plowed Jamie should arrive. I expect to see them around 10pm. That should give us just enough time to play one round of WARLORDS before they have to go home.
7:33 - They finally arrived and the kids were excited! They've been waiting all day.
We played around with Rubik's Cube for a while and had some play food. Then we bowled, the Strike Brothers against the Bowling Sisters. Jamie came up with the team names which fit perfect since Parker was racking up the strikes.

Friends

Friendship. Having friends is a wonderful thing and I am so grateful for the friends I have.
I recently had the chance to be there for one of them. He's down right now and if he happens to read this - You're in our prayers. We love you.

Daddy Daughter Day

For Daddy Daughter Day Emily and I went to the Village Inn. We both like the Village Inn.

After eating we went over to Smith's Marketplace to check out toys before going to a movie.

They made a blue Optimus Prime. I'm not a hardcore Tramsformers guy so maybe I missed the day Optimus got a new paint job. I only know him as being red but the blue does look cool.

Emily wanted to see National Treasure 2. We liked it and had a lot of fun.

Go Getter

Word of the Day: Go Getter

Try using it in a sentence. Below are a couple of examples. This is a great word to use with co-workers and is sure to guarantee you that raise you've been hoping for.

Wrong: She’s a good worker.

Correct: She’s amazing, a real Go Getter. She gets the job done, she’s a Go Getter. Right now she’s been sick for a few days but give her some time, She’s a Go Getter. She’ll get the job done because she’s a Go Getter.

Wrong: Good job on that magazine piece you made.

Correct: Good job Go Getter! You're a Go Getter! You do good stuff! Go Get'em Tiger, you're a Go Getter!

In Memory of Heath Ledger

I really liked Heath Ledger's movies. I think he was a great actor and I'm looking forward to his final film, The Dark Knight.

It's sad that he had to go so soon.
He will be missed.

As a tribute to him I made this shortly after his death on January 22, 2008.
I made it for a contest that was held on Worth 1000 as a tribute to Heath.

Creating an illusion with a screw & some tape

This was taken in a quiet parking garage... or was it?

Things aren't always what they seem...

Actually it's a narrow hallway with a tall ceiling and the photo was simply turned sideways. The crate with the garbage & rags was screwed to the wall and tape was used to keep the rags in place. The other items such as the empty bottle and paper were taped to the wall. The guys got into position and after the shot was taken I simply turned it 90 degrees.
A simple set-up created a very impressive illusion.

Canada

Here are a few of my favorite shots of Canada. We went for my birthday and stayed on Arlena's farm.
I shot her Dad's tractor in the wheat field during the early morning sunrise. The skyscrapers are in Calgary.
The old truck I found in her awesome automobile graveyard.
Then in Banff I moved in close to get a picture of a beautiful elk just having an evening snack.
Becky got a cool shot of me walking through the wheat field at sunset, which was inspired by the movie Gladiator. I love that photo. She has a good eye.:)
If you ever have the opportunity, Canada is a beautiful place to visit.
Feel free to comment on my photos.
