Sean had an extra VIP ticket to The Total Money Makeover Live at the E Center and he invited me to go with him. He picked me up at noon and we took a little detour so I could get a Kids Meal at Burger King, which led us to this street that Sean vowed never to take ever again.
Despite the construction, which runs through most of the west side, we actually made it in time and got to pay $6.00 for parking. If you ever go to one of these shows be sure to take three major credit cards, your check book and a wad of cash.
The show started at 1pm with the first of seven "Baby Steps", which he took from the movie "What About Bob?", the first being to start an Emergency Fund of $1000. Also, stop using credit cards. He said most people use credit cards for "emergencies", like your car needs a new tire, your kids need new shoes, Christmas is coming and you need to buy 100 gifts with money you don't have, so it all goes on the credit card and then most people lose track of all they've bought and are reminded later with a huge bill. He said it's best to keep an emergency fund for just those kinds of things. I actually believe in that idea, Becky & I cut up our credit cards several years ago.
2. Pay off all your debt using the "Debt Snowball"
3. Put away 3-6 months of expenses into savings for a rainy day.
4. Invest 15% of household income into ROTH IRAs and pre-tax retirement.
5. Put away money for future college expenses.
6. Pay off your home early.
7. Build wealth and give.
I liked it and he even brought spirituality into the whole plan. Remember to ask for Heavenly Father's help as well and always be thankful for the blessings and opportunities that he sends your way. The five hour show was funny and informative.

After the show we went to pick up Sean's kids... and Q-Tip his ferrets.

Kayzin didn't have to go to the bathroom while we were waiting for Sean, but as soon as we were driving he had to go. "Daddy, I have to go potty." "Oh no you don't! You've gotta be kidding me. Why didn't you go before we left?" I think were Sean's words.
Sophie was hungry.
I was a little disappointed that Sean didn't wear his U23D hat to the show. Luckily I wore mine. They even played U2 as we left the building. We need to promote U23D more. It plays on the IMAX once a month and you should really go see it if you haven't yet.
"I have to go potty."
"I have to go potty."
Then we hit a red light...
"This is going to prolong things."
Sean, thanks for inviting me and now you need to get to work on your emergency fund! I don't know how much longer Burger King is going to have STAR TREK TOYS!
